An epic race around the British Isles and Ireland. First held in 1976, the Round Britain & Ireland Race takes competitors on a 1,805-nautical-mile circumnavigation of the British Isles, leaving every island and rock—including Muckle Flugga, at the northern tip of the Shetland Islands—to starboard.
Starting and finishing in Cowes, the course demands exceptional endurance as competitors round iconic headlands such as Land’s End, St Kilda, and Fair Isle. Powerful tidal streams, rapidly changing weather, man-made obstacles, and long stretches of exposed water combine to make this one of the most demanding offshore races on the calendar.
