Lennart Burke and Melwin Fink, skippers of the Class40 Task Engineering (189), have set themselves a challenge: to beat the record for a Class40 circumnavigation of Denmark.
A 760 nautical mile challenge
The German duo is tackling a demanding course of 760 nautical miles, linking Esbjerg, Skagen, Bornholm, Funen and Aarhus. Their aim: to beat the 70 hours, 24 minutes and 21 seconds set in 2019 by Bouwe Bekking on the VO65 Childhood II.
Followed by the World Sailing Speed Record Council and the Aarhus Sailing Center, this challenge could make Next Generation Sailing history. As a reminder, no official reference time has yet been approved by Guinness World Records.
A young, determined crew
The Class40 Task Engineering (189) was launched in 2022. At the helm are Lennart Burke (26) and Melwin Fink (23), two promising German sailors determined to make history.
