Flash arrival - Class40
At 9:05 a.m. on Wednesday, SNSM Faites un don ! was the first Class40 to cross the finish line of the first stage in La Coruña. Corentin Douguet and Axel Tréhin, who took the lead in the Bay of Biscay, completed this part of the course in 2 days and 18 hours. They finished ahead of the Normandy duo Guillaume Pirouelle and Cédric Chateau (Seafrigo-Sogestran), who came in second 21 minutes later at 9:27 a.m. The duo Achille Nebout and Gildas Mahé (Amarris) completed the podium after crossing the line at 9:53 a.m.
As a reminder, the race organizers decided to introduce this stop in La Coruña in order to protect the skippers and boats from a violent storm that will sweep across the Atlantic coast starting tomorrow. The competitors will wait for it to pass before resuming the race, probably at the end of the weekend. Victory in the TRANSAT CAFÉ L’OR Le Havre Normandie will be decided by the combined time of the two legs (Le Havre – La Coruña, La Coruña – Fort-de-France).
